In order to convert a protective striking plate 2 for a double latch lock or a latch bolt lock to a modular lock provided with a bolt and a roller latch 15, 16, an insert element 9 of substantially U-shaped profile is introduced into one of the recesses 3 in the striking plate. The roller latch 16 can then cooperate with the striking plate, and the lock as a whole, when the bolt 15 is used, achieves high protection against forcing. <IMAGE>
