ARYLOXY PROPLAMINES, THEIR PREPARATION AND USE THEREOF

Disclosed herein are compounds of the formula 1 1 in which Ar is phenyl or 1-naphthyl; R1 and R2 are either the same or different selected from the group consisting of hydrogen or lower alkyl, or R1 and R2 together with the nitrogen atom to which they are joined form o heterocyclic amine radical selected from the group consisting of 1-pyrrolidlnyl, piperidino, morpholino and 4-(lower alkyl)-1-piperazinyl; and Z is NR3R4 wherein R3 and R4 are either the some or different selected from the group consisting of hydrogen or lower alkyl, or R3 and R4 together with the nitrogen to which they are joined represent a heterocyclic amine radical selected from the group consisting of 1-pyrroloidinyl, piperidino, morpholino and 4-(lower alkyl)-i-piperazinyl, or Z is OR wherein R5 is hydrogen or lower alkyl; with the proviso that when Ar is phenyl, Z must be OR5; and that when Z is OR5 , R1 and R2 together with the nitrogen atom to which they are joined form said heterocyclic amine radical; or a therapeutically acceptable acid addition salt thereof. The compounds are antidepressant agents and methods for their preparation and use also are disclosed.
