A release latch (8) of the key lever (2) with a pivot (21) and spring (29) is constructed as an integral component made of elastic plastic. The spring is constructed as a tongue (29) which is provided at its free end with a holding pin (30) which extends approximately parallel to the pivot (21) and engages in a corresponding bore (32) in the key lever (2). The release latch (8) is provided with a side guiding surface (34) engaging around the key lever (2) in the region of a longitudinal edge and is connected to the key lever by plugging in. This obviates the need for riveting and for hooking in springs for all the key levers with release latches on a typewriter.
