PURPOSE:To obtain an excellent reproduced picture by delaying selectively and differentially a reproduced signal from a rotary magnetic head according to the time unit of a vertical synchronizing signal period and by setting each difference in the number of horizontal scanning lines not more than one. CONSTITUTION:When a picture is reproduced at a speed different from a standard tape speed, the time-axis correcting unit composed of delay circuits 17-20, and switching circuit 21 delays the time when the number of horizontal scanning lines in the vertical period of a reproduced video signal differs with different time according to the vertical period unit, and those delay signals are combined so as to correct the error of the number of horizontal scanning lines in each vertical period to one horizontal scanning line and below. Further, a vertical period when the number of horizontal scanning lines differs from that in another vertical period is not continued, but dispersed to reduce longitudinal swing on a screen, thereby obtaining an easy-to-see screen. |
