A headset includes two ear-pad casings at least one of which includes an earphone connectable by a flexible cord to an external sound-signal source. A signal limiting circuit controlled directly by the sound signal and mounted in the casing includes a pair of voltage limiting diodes connected in opposed directions in parallel with the earphones and a current limiting stage comprising a field-effect transistor connected in series with the earphones.
