PREHEATING DEVICE FOR TURBINE DRIVEN GENERATOR

PURPOSE:To simplify the preheating of a generator by making a power transformer three wound type wherein the transformer is used as a low voltage auxiliary power source for generating equipment. CONSTITUTION:A circuit breaker at the secondary of a transformer 6 is opened at the starting time of a generator 1 and an auxiliary power source for start is supplied from a starting transformer 8. To obtain the preheating at the starting time of the generator, a power transformer 7A is composed of three wound type and the preheating power is supplied from the third winding of the transformer. The preheating power is supplied to a rotor coil 2 through a thyrister rectifier 15 to raise the temperature in the equipment by heating action. And the generator will be started after the completion of preheating. The secondary winding of the transformer 7A is used as a low voltage auxiliary power source. As the operation of the low voltage auxiliary unit is infrequent before starting the generator, preheating power will be obtained without increasing the capacity of the primary of the transformer.
