1454404 Bookends R BOHNACKER 8 Nov 1973 [8 Nov 1972] 51917/73 Heading A4U A bookend comprises a base-plate 1 and a book support in the form of an inverted U-shaped wire 2, the ends of the wire being engaged and held by an extension 4 at one edge of the plate 1. As shown, extension 4 is formed by bent support, cover and marginal strips 5, 6, 7 and side flaps 8 see Fig. 4, (not shown), the cover strip 6 having recessed ends 9 for reception of the wire ends, which may be biased towards or away from one another. Alternatively, the cover strip 6 may have bores (10), Fig. 7 (not shown) for the wire ends. The wire ends may have notches engaging edges of the cover strip, Fig. 8 (not shown), or the wire ends may be cranked, Fig. 6 (not shown). The lower edge of the marginal strip may be angled to resiliently engage notches in the wire ends Fig. 10 (not shown). The side flaps may be bent or curved to define holes, Figs. 12, 14 (not shown), and the wire ends may include barb-like notches Fig. 13 (not shown). |
