Classes 103(5) and 108(1) [Also in Group XXVIII] A tractor is connected by means of a draw bar 5 and a compressior rod 4 to a two wheeled trailer having a triangular jib 11 pivoted at 12 to the trailer chassis, pivotal connections being provided also at A, B or 15, C, and D. An hydraulic cylinder 19 pivoted at 18 to the jib 11, and a piston 16 pivoted at 17 to the trailer may be actuated by a hand pump 20 to pivot the jib 11 about the axis 12 and tip the trailer. Alternatively a pulling force may be exerted on the upper end of the jib, or other forms of power may be provided instead of the hydraulic cylinder. In the uncoupled position the trailer may be supported by a prop, and a latch 42 may be used to retain the jib in its applied position against the chassis. |
