A suspender buckle has a button 1, a button-mount 2 of ribbon or similar elastic material, a buckle proper 3 which pinches the stocking between itself and the button and a loop member 5 by which the buckle is suspended from a supporting ribbon, the button-mount being pivoted to one side 5a of the loop member and having a portion extending away from the end which carries the button; the length of which portion when free being sufficient in relation to the distance between the side 5a of the loop member on which the mount is pivoted and the opposite side 5b of the loop member to enable it by its elastic deformation to nip a supporting ribbon 4 (or a supporting ribbon 4 and a protective ribbon 6) between the end of this portion and the opposite side of the loop member sufficiently firmly to prevent slip of the ribbon or ribbons in normal use.
