<p>The stabiliser is for the towing gear of a road operating caravan. It has a shock absorber (14) which varies in length according to tension or compression when resisting the tractive force. This is fitted nearly horizontal on the drawbar (2) side and is pivoted in all directions on the caravan (13) and tractor (7). There can be two shock absorbers placed either side of the drawbar, and each independently pivoted. The shock absorbers has high resistance to tension and low to compression, the ratio is 5 or 6 to 1. The shock absorbers are mounted on the tractor in front of the drawgear pin (9).</p> |
