Filler or pigment is prepared by spraying or pouring 0.01-5 wt % of an ambi-or monofunctional coupling agent onto a dry hydrophilic inorganic solid while the solid is agitated. The coupling agent is a silane, a titanate of the formula R3TiX where R is a group attached to Ti by a thermally and hydrolytically stable bond and X is a hydrolysable group, or a 'glass resin thermoset silicone coupling agent'. The solid is particulate or fibrous and crystalline or amorphous. It is agitated in a high intensity mixer having blades driven at 200-18000 rpm within a mixing chamber at 70-350 degrees F. To improve the flexural strength, moisture and chemical resistance and dielectric constant of resins such as PVC room temp. cured epoxies and diallyl phthalate resins. The high intensity mixing coats faces and fractured surfaces of the solid without agglomeration.
