Titel compds. (I; Alk=C2-4 alkylene; Ar, Ar`=Ph, C1-4 alkyl-substituted Ph, halo-substituted Ph; Ar``=Ph, C1-4 alkyl-substituted Ph, halo-substituted Ph, pyridyl, thienyl; x=H, halogen, C1-4 alkyl; R=H, C1-4 alkyl, C2-5 alkanoyl), useful as antidiarrhoeica, were prepd. by esterifying III, which is obtained by the reaction of II with reduction agent, with anhydrides in basic medium or treating III with NaOH in org. solvent, followed by reacting with alkyl halide to give I.
