The steam generator comprises a boiler (1), at least one combustion chamber (3) with turbulent particle combustion and an inclined hot gas duct (11) leading to the boiler. The inclination of the duct to the horizontal is greater than the natural slide angle of the combustion dust particles. The duct length equals at least twice the effective height of the duct in which this height is measured at right angles between the duct walls (13, 17) or between any parallel adjoining partitions (12). The duct inclination may be up to 20 deg. greater than the slide angle. The partitions (12) may be formed as heat exchange surfaces.
