Automatic controlled water valve - has damping piston fixed to operating plunger to delay return to closed condition

The valve head of an automatic water valve is lifted off its seat to connect inlet and outlet ports, by an operating plunger, fixed to an operating button. Return to the closed condition is ensured by a spring beneath the button. A piston fixed to the plunger slides in a damping chamber as the latter is operated. The two sides of the piston are connected by small-bore passages in the plunger. The throttling effect of the latter delays the return of the valve to the closed condition.
