The drive shaft is for elevation and lateral control mechanisms in air- and spacecraft, turning only through a relatively small angle in use. Toothed notches (11) are formed in the shaft periphery, only at points subjected to low bending stresses. The notch flanks can be grooved (12) to take lubricant. The design reduces wear and thus improves safety and reliability, as the shaft transmits not only a torque, but carries out also an axial movement. In addition to increased safety the new design reduces machinery and thus cost.
