<p>In the construction of a cylinder to extract water from a fibre suspension, for paper making; the cylinder is built up from a number of rings with supporting webs (6) which are interconnected at one end and branch out to overlap each other in the direction of rotation. There are channels (9) between two webs which taper more strongly towards the centre of the cylinder than a channel which is formed between two straight webs. The design accelerates the flow of extracted fluid to the centre of the cylinder, so that the forces on the fluid are greater than the centrifugal forces at the circumference.</p> |
