A ball and socket mounting for a driving mirror has the two parts linked by a securing screw (18) with a nut (20) to clamp down onto the socket. The ball has a slot to allow the screw to swing through a set angle and enable the mirror to be mounted with its foot vertical or horizontal. The end of the screw is secured in a cylinder (22) swivel mounted inside the ball. The angular adjustment for the mirror has a set amount of play in the socket to allow the screw to set the mirror for different drivers. The mounting has the same stability as conventional fittings, and is applied to most types of vehicle.
