The working piston is supported via a fixed piston shoe (11) on a piston-guiding surface (12). For the purpose of pressure distribution, the piston shoe on its outer side has a relief pocket (16) which communicates with the cylinder chamber (8). To this end, there is provided on the outer side of the piston shoe (11) a recess (19), inserted in which there is a separate gasket (14) which can move within narrow limits and is provided with the pocket (16). Between the rear of said gasket and the base plane of the recess a gap (24) is formed which communicates with the cylinder chamber (8) via the duct (15). The areal extent of said gap is limited by a seal ring (25) running in an annular groove. The relief pocket (16) proper is accessed only by a duct (45) from the area of the seal ring (25). The internal diameter of the gap is sized in such a way that the gap acts as an initial restrictor. This design of the piston shoe relief ensures a close fit against the piston-guiding surface, virtually friction-free sliding with little leakage oil even in the event of any manufacturing imprecisions of the piston-guiding surface. <IMAGE>
