The container (13) is particularly intended for handling by a fork lift. It comprises a base frame (10) to which the container bottom (20) is pivoted via bearings (14, 14a) and which has openings (11) at the rear for receiving the fork prongs (12). A manually operable lever (17, 18) is pivoted (16) to the frame and has an arm (18) carrying a roller (19) which lifts the container bottom (20) for tipping when the lever is pulled back. The tipping movement may be limited by a chain secured between the bottom and the frame. The container and its frame may have wheels (22, 22a) to permit its independent movement.
