In a branch valve, two straight flanged fittings (10, 11) forming a through passage (14. Are joined together by a third flanged fitting (26) between them, which forms the third, right-angled outlet. The latter is connected to the through passage (14) by virtue of a gap (25) between the cylindrical inner portions (21, 22) of the flanged fittings (10, 11). A sleeve (34) in the open condition lying entirely on one cylindrical portion (22) can be slid across onto the other cylindrical portion (21) to close off the gap (25), thus closing the branch outlet.
