Ships position locating distress signal - consists of vertical or near vertical intensive light beams from searchlights arranged on deck

The arrangement is intended to mark the position of a ship or life-boat in distress. It uses search-lights arranged on deck and positioned to beam in upward direction. A number of such search lights may be so arranged, and may beam upwards in vertical or inclined direction. They may be angled to have their beams intersect at a given height above the ship. The colour of the light beams may be adjustable to provide max. contrast in the prevailing weather conditions.
