Ship's lifeboat launching aid - is used when davits are inoperable and has boat supported, releasably held and guided on downwardly curved slide rails

The arrangement is intended for launching a ship's lifeboat in the event the davits are no longer operable. The boat is supported on downwardly curved slide rails (1) in transverse planes and the rails are U-section steel members engaged by stub ends (2) fixed to the keel of the boat. The boat is held in place by releasable levers (3) and supports (4) to either side of the keel prevent the boat from heeling over sideways during launching. The outboard support (4) slides down with the boat when launched.
