The movement of the heald frame is generated by movement-converting members converting the rotational movement into a reciprocating movement, an eccentric ring (5) being mounted rotatably on a continuously or intermittently rotating drive shaft (1). Arranged on the eccentric ring (5) is at least one coupling (4, 12, 13, 15, 17) which acts in both directions of rotation and which makes or breaks the connection between the eccentric ring (5) and the drive shaft (1) via a control device (16) as a function of the control command of a data carrier. For this purpose, two double-sided stop bosses (3a, 3b) are provided on the drive shaft (1), and mounted pivotably on the eccentric ring (5) is at least one pair of levers (12) which take effect essentially tangentially in both directions of rotation and which are under spring tension (14), so that, at a high working speed of the weaving machine, a reliable connection and disconnection of the structural elements to be moved are possible without any play. <IMAGE>
