<p>In a coding arrangement in which each count of a ring counter corresponds to a key of a keyboard and is transmitted as a coded data character in response to a transfer pulse produced upon actuation of the respective key, hybrid characters are each assigned a respective key and upon actuation of such key the transfer pulse produced is suppressed and is replaced by a plurality of consecutive transfer pulses produced at times when the ring counter has counts corresponding to the consecutive coded characters which are required to represent the hybrid character. Thus a hybrid character, e.g. the letter ?, is represented as the consecutive coded letters ae in response to actuation of a single key of the keyboard which key can have only a single contact gap associated therewith.</p> |
