摘要 PURPOSE:To enable multinozzles of a head to be easily obtained and to obtain excellent gradation and stability of discharge, by providing a meniscus position control means in a nozzle, a thermal energy application timing control means, and a correction means wherein a discharge amount of ink is corrected by varying thermal energy application timing. CONSTITUTION:When a rectangular pulse is applied to only a piezoelectric element 16, a position of a meniscus in a nozzle 12 retreats in an elapsed time manner from a time T1 when application is started, and the meniscus returns in a outlet port 12A direction by a capillary phenomenon gradually from a point of time when application of a pulse ends. At that time, the retreating amount of the meniscus varies to 0- about 100mum at elapsed times of T1, T2, and T3. When a pulse is applied to a heating element 13 at each timing, only existing on the outlet port 12A side from a heating center X of the heating element is discharged as an ink drop. Therefore, a discharge amount of ink is varied by varying timing at which the pulse is applied to the heating element 13 from a control part 20 like T1, T2, and T3, and a recording dot size becomes possible to be controlled.
