[Also in Groups XVI and XL (b)] For the correction by back-spacing of a tape perforated according to the information to be recorded, the perforations are overperforated, i.e. holes at all element positions, during the back-spacing steps. In the cases in which the characters corresponding to the recording are printed on the tape the printed characters are, during the back-spacing operation, over-printed with an erase sign or a suitable letter, such as a capital " X ". The actuation of the back-spacing key may simultaneously operate the letter-shift key to effect the over-perforation, and also a lever operating a type-head member to print " X " or the erase symbol. |
