<p>An absorbent article comprising, an absorbent pad assembly having an absorbent pad, and pockets for retaining a hydrocolloid material in association with the pad. The article may include a fluid pervious top sheet, a fluid impervious backing sheet and first and second retaining sheets located intermediate the top and backing sheets. The retaining sheets are attached together in areas to define the pockets. Small openings are provided to permit passage of body fluids into the pockets. One retaining sheet can be closed in the pocket regions to prevent passage of liquid between the pockets and a front surface of the article. One of the retaining sheets can comprise a film of thermoplastic material and can be fused in said areas to the other sheet.</p> |
