PURPOSE:To facilitate changing of specifications for the cooling system of a marine engine, by fixing a thermostat with a cover having a port communicated to a heat exchanger or a cover having a port communicated to the outlet passage of cooling water being alternatively attached to an outlet port of cooling water. CONSTITUTION:Exhaust manifold 4 is made in a double-wall structure surrounding the outside of exhaust passage 33 by cooling-water passage 34. In case of an ''indirect cooling'' model, indirect-cooling thermostat 5a is attached to outlet port 38 at the upper surface of exhaust manifold 4, and the outlet port 38 and an opening at the top of switching passage 39 are covered by an indirect-cooling cap 40. Port 41 of the cap 40 is connected to a heat exchanger by hose 42. In case of a ''direct cooling'' model, on the other hand, direct-cooling thermostat 5b is fixed in place by a cup-like cap 43 which covers both of outlet port 38 and the opening at the top of switching passage 39 simultaneously. This switching passage 39 is connected to a lubricating-oil cooling means by hose 46. |
