WETTTYPE APPARATUS FOR SMOKE EVACUATION AND DESULFURIZATION

PURPOSE:To prevent the wear of apparatus and to decrease the number of component units used by a method wherein a cooling liquid and an absorbing solution are recovered in a common liquid-retaining part, the recovered liquid is converted to a large amount of clarified liquid containing solids at a low concentration in an expanded liquid-retaining part which is opened to the atmosphere, and the clarified liquid is used as a cooling liquid. CONSTITUTION:A liquid-retaining part 3 communicates through a gap 8 with an expanded liquid-retaining part 4 which is opened to the atmosphere. The liquid- retaining part 3 is provided with an inlet 9 for SO2 gas-fixing agent such as lime and a O2-containing gas blowing port 10. As an absorbing solution is clarified in the course of the movement of the solution from the liquid-retaining part 3 to the expanded part 4, a solid-liquid separation means is provided e.g. by sloping a bottom plate 7. A cooling liquid from a cooling part 1 and the absorbing solution from SO2 absorption part 2 drop into the liquid-retaining part 3, and a suspension containing solids such as Ca compound is recovered. The suspension is recycled through a pump 11 and used as the absorbing solution while adjusting the concentration of Ca compound. Liquid which is passed through the gap 8 and converted to clarified liquid is recycled through a pump 12 and used as the cooling liquid.
