<p>The standard container used for road, rail and sea transport can be handled more easily by four jacks, which are attached one to each corner. Each jack consists of an outer tube (11) with an inner screwed rod (21) which extends downwards to a foot. The screwed rod engages the thread in the bore of a wormwheel (23) driven by a worm (26) which is rotated by a handle. The container (12) is supported at the upper and lower corners by brackets (13, 14) which are braced by stays (16, 17) attached to a common ring (20), fitted round the tube (11). The lower bracket (14) is supported on a castor.</p> |
