HOT ROLLING LUBRICANT FOR STEEL

PURPOSE:Title lubricant capable of forming a tough lubricating film which reduces wear of rolls, prepared by dissolving or dispersing a metallic soap in a wax type or an oil and fat type lubricant which is solid or semisolid at normal temperature. CONSTITUTION:At most 25wt% of one or more of metallic soaps selected from metal salts of a higher fatty acid are dissolved or dispersed in a wax type or an oil and fat type lubricant which is solid or semisolid at normal temperature, such as shellac or beef tallow, to produce a hot rolling lubricant. This lubricant is molten by heating, divided into mists by air heated to at least 70 deg.C, and sprayed over a steel material to form a lubricating film.
