PURPOSE:A heterogeneous photosensitizer for photosensitized oxidation with improved resistance to water, acid and alkali, having a water elution value below a specific value, which is useful for treatment of waste water, prepared by properly selecting pretreatment of a support, treatment after supporting and method of supporting. CONSTITUTION:Of the heterogeneous sensitizers for photosensitized oxidation, prepared by allowing a support to carry a sensitizing substance having an absorption band in the wave length region of 380-800nm and a consumption of dissolved oxgen DELTADO of at least 0.5, those sensitizers having a water elution value EH20 of the photosentizing substance, of at most 0.05. As the support, a material is used which is resistant to water, acid and alkali, and non-swelling in water. The water elution value EH20 is markedly improved by the following treatments: (A) pretreatment such as, when the support is of a polymer, surface treatment such as by oxidation or introduction of polar functional groups; when the support is of an inorganic material treatment with a silane coupling agent; and when the support is of a metal, surface treatment by electrolysis, (B) treatment after supporting, such as by steaming or treating with a thermosetting resin, and optionally, (C) treatment to chemically adsorb the sensitizing substance and the support. |
