<p>A flexible bellows with an undulating wall profile is lined on the internal and/or external face with a flexible fabric woven from high strength yarn, pref. of polyamide. Suitable for protective sleeves for e.g. radio-chemical cabinet access, vehicle steering linkages, etc., where the bellows body may be of constant or reducing average bore and made of natural or synthetic rubber (polychloroprene, nitrile rubber, etc.) or of plastic material, e.g. flexible PVC. The sleeve may be made by covering a suitable mould core with the fabric and then coating the fabric with rubber in a fluid phase prior to curing. The reinforcement inhibits crack propagation, esp. along the roots or crests of the bellow ribs.</p> |
