Jet propulsion unit for rocket - has launching charge ignited initially followed by main charge in main casing

The propulsion unit is divided by a wall into an after chamber and a front chamber. The after chamber holds the launching charge while the front chamber contains the cruising propellant. The propellant consists of a powder pressed into rods. The combustion gases pass through the tube to a point near the ignition system. There is an intermediate ignition system which is located at the rear end of the transfer tube. The launching charge is fired first with the main charge following immediately.
