Tobacco leaf stripping machine - transports plants head downwards while rotating them about their axes

The machine strips the leaves from tobacco plants (5), which are moved sideways and head downwards along a predetermined path. They move along an endless conveyor and are held by elements which turn them about their axes so as to displace the leaves along a cycloidal path. The stripping mechanism comprises positively-driven components (6, 7, 8) moving along a path adjacent to the paths of the leaves. The mechanism has one endless toothed line (10) which holds the plants vertically while their leaves are being removed.
