The embossing system produces sheets of beeswax for use in honeycomb frames. It uses a rubberised mould, typically with an embossed surface having protrusions for round or hexagonal shape and ending in a rounded or pyramidal tip. The elasticity of the rubber can be used to compress and release the protrusions, thus unsticking all the surfaces from each other and aiding removal of the embossed sheet from the mould. The mould is made up of two plates which are located face-to-face with their embossed faces together. The soft wax sheets are placed between the faces and pressure is applied by e.g. a roller.
|
