Press has a two-part mould, both parts being moved in guides and operated by pressure rams. The two mould tools are the rams hollowed out almost to their edges at the ends to form the cavity when they meet. One ram passes through a shear ring whose internal section equals the external section of that ram, and both the rams move together relative to the ring in a shear phase but the they move away from each other in the ejection phase of the moulding cycle. A flash-free prod is obtd.
