A measuring instrument (12) for measuring curvature, in particular on a spherical surface, is specified, in which the travel of a feeler (8) is fed to a small computer (11) via an analog-to-digital converter (9). The small computer optionally displays the radius (r) of a workpiece (1) or the deviation of the actual value of the measured radius from a prescribable desired value. Spacing limiters (6, 7) having different spacings can be selected for different ranges of radius. Instead of linear spacing limiters, it is also possible to use tips with spherical contact points or measuring rings. This measuring instrument is suitable for simple and quick determination of radii of curvature, in particular on workpieces of complicated shape and on workpieces having spherical or cylindrical surfaces. It is possible to measure both outside radii and inside radii. When it is set up on a planar support, the spherometer is suitable for thickness measurement. <IMAGE>
