The system is for disconnecting the battery and the generator of a vehicle electrical system in the event of an accident. It uses a protective switch (16) with two concentric coils (17, 18) controlling an armature (46) which holds a contact arm positively in an open or closed position. This armature passes through a ring magnet (44) concentrically positioned inside the coils, and when the armature is moved, the generator connection are interrupted. The inner winding is an ejector winding and both windings are connected to control thyristors in an electronic unit. This includes an amplifier stage with a disconnecting switch in series with a resistance locates at an access point inside or outside the vehicle.
