Cap protected plug and socket unit - includes locking sections between inner and outer skirts of shells, opposite cover hinge

The plub and socket connection for an electric cable has a socket (1) fit with a spring loaded section (32) to cover the interior when the plug has been removed. The socket has a base skirt enclosing an inner sleeve (23) which holds the socket fittings. The plug housing shell has an outer part(2) forming a locking section and an inner part (2) holding the connecting components. The inner part has a skirt which locks over projections (4) around the outside of the inner sleeve of the skirt. On the opposite side to the dover hinge (25) is a locking system with locking elements (5) projecting inwards from the bottom of the outer shell. These have sloping surfaces (6, 7) which engage corresp. surfaces (8, 9) on the projections (4) on the socket member.
