The transporter for prefabricated concrete garages etc. has a rigid boom which reaches into the garage section and grips it between upper and lower thrust plates (23, 20). The plates are operated by lazy tongs type levers and are linked by a vertical spindle (22), which allows the mounting to rotate about a vertical axis at the end of the boom. The vertical axis enables the garage section to be dropped accurately in place, without having to adjust the setting of the lorry. The garage sections can be positioned on difficult sites with a minimum of effort and with little skill for the operator.
