<p>During the welding operation, acoustic signals are transmitted towards the workpiece so an echo is obtd. The lapse of time taken by the echo is compared with a specified desired time, and any difference is employed to actuate a motor which adjusts the position of the burner w.r.t. the seam. The desired time is pref. a time/intensity diagram; and the pref. appts. includes >=1 transmitter and >=1 receiver, esp. >=1 transmitter-receiver connected to a comparator which produces signals actuating the motor, which e.g. adjust the height of the burner.</p> |
