The method consists in measuring electrode-ingot voltages, calculating their arithmetic mean value, comparing the measured voltages with their arithmetic mean value and, depending on the difference, providing a control influence according to the coefficient of influence of the gas on the speed of melting of the electrodes. The initial value of that coefficient is corrected during the remelting process. The control influence is then transmitted to actuating mechanisms changing the blowing rate of the gas fed to the under-electrode zones of those electrodes whose electrode-ingot voltages differ from their calculated arithmetic mean values. The control influence may be provided with a controlling electronic computer, its data input comprising tolerances for variations of the electrode-ingot voltages, dimensions of the consumable electrodes and the type of material of which they are made, the total volume of the slag bath; the average value of the temperature of the slag bath, the number and disposition of the consumable electrodes and of the nozzles, the maximum and minimum values of the input of the gas source and discreteness of its switching, the coefficient of the gas influence on the melting speed of the consumable electrodes. Operations similar to those described above are then carried out. |
