In the mfr. of a hollow inner frame of strip steel for a multiple glazing system the strip is first bent to form a U-shape. It is then bent further to form as open box configuration with seams running along the free edges. A filling of a hygroscopic substance is granulate form is introduced into selected sections of the assembly after the initial forming into a U-shape and at the same time that it is formed into box shape. The two seamed edges are finally interlocked together. The assembly is finally bent into an endless rectangular frame shape.
