The cable clamp fitting device (1, 2) and cutter (3, 4) assembly is intended for on-site repairing of a damaged or broken wire rope or cable connection such as at a looped cable end, and particularly for application in forestry operations. It comprises a fixed base with lower cutter jaw (3) and a pivoted arm (4) with an upper cutter jaw and anvil. The cable is clamped between the jaws and cut by hammer strokes on the anvil. The cutter is opened and an aluminium cable clamp inserted in the lower guide (2) of the clamp fitting device, a loop formed, and the anvil (1) of the device place in the guide. Jaws in the anvil (1) and the guide have cutting edges which remove the excess aluminium as the clamp is compressed by striking the anvil (1).
