A rotatably mounted grip piece, in a socket-fitted to a window frame, or similar, is incorporated in the handle for operating a closing mechanism on a door or window. The socket (4) is fitted with claws (18) protruding across its fitting surface (4') and hooking in place behind the edge of a hole (3) in the frame sited concentrically with the axis of rotation of the grip piece. Centering lugs (17) may be sited between the claws. This is simple in construction, and compact, and easily mounted with precision.
