A brake for a ski is fixed to a heel plate of a safety binding. This heel plate comprises a rotating plate supporting the heel; two orientable return members are fixed to this rotating plate, one on each side of the heel; these return members carry a moving sole support opposite to the force of at least one spring. To facilitate the engagement of the binding and to bring the brake to its working position, a base plate (10) secured to the ski and carrying the rotating plate (1) is provided with a horizontal transversal shaft (13), to which a pedal (14) is rotatingly secured; this pedal is rockable or swingable to a position approximately parallel to the base plate (10) on the rotating plate (1), against the force of at least one spring. At least one lever (19, 20), forming a braking clamp is fixed to the pedal (14) in parallel to the rotation shaft (13) thereof; this lever (19, 20) is movably fixed to the ski by means of eyelets (21, 22). |
