<p>The invention is directed to aminodi- and polyalkylamidoalkane sulfonic acids and salts of the formula wherein R6 is straight or branched chain alkyl of 1 to 25 carbon atoms, substituted alkyl, cycloalkyl unsubstituted or substituted by alkyl; furfuryl, morpholinyl, optionally substituted phenyl or benzyl or a group derived from a polyvalent amine, R1 is hydrogen or lower alkyl and each of R2, R4 and R5 is independently hydrogen or alkyl. R3 is hydrogen, alkyl, aryl or pyridyl, M is hydrogen, an alkali metal, an alkaline earth metal, a group derived from an organic base or ammonium, and n is an integer corresponding to the valency of M. Said compounds are prepared by a base catalyzed addition reaction of a primary amine to an alkenylaminoalkane sulronic acid sslt. The compounds are useful as surfactants.</p> |
