<p>PURPOSE:To obtain the hard slag of superior abrasion resistance by controlling the rate of cooling of the slag in correspondence to the basicity of the slag. CONSTITUTION:The basicity (CaO/SiO2) of the slag produced from iron works is controlled to 1.5-4.5. This is cooled at a cooling rate of 20 deg.C/sec. or more when this basicity is 1.5-3.0 or at a cooling rate of 100 deg.C/sec. or more when the basicity is 3.0-4.5. As a result of this, the work index of the slag becomes approximately 20KWH/t and becomes the hardness equivalent to basalt and andesite. The controlling of the slag basicity is accomplished by adding respectively the specified amounts of additives rich in silicic acid components or lime components. The controlling of the cooling rate of the molten slag having been controlled of the basicity may be performed by controlling the thickness of the slag at the cooling.</p> |
