PURPOSE:To better the transmittance of energy from electromagnetic wave to plasma by drawing ultraviolet rays by mercury plasma out of one side of vacuum tank enclosing mercury gas by irradiation of micro wave into the tank. CONSTITUTION:The ultraviolet rays-permeable partition walled cylinder 2 with the metal netting 11 is closely fitted into the center of the ultraviolet rays-permeable cylindrical vacuum tank 1 and then mercury vapor is enclosed into the vacuum tank 1. And, the treating solution or gas-inlet pipe 3 of an ultraviolet rays-permeable material is inserted into the partition walled cylinder 2. And, when irradiating micro wave in the direction of the arrow mark a from the waveguide 9 connected to one end of the vacuum tank 1, non-polarized discharge occurs inside the vacuum tank 1 to generate mercury plasma and ultraviolet rays are irradiated into the tank through the partition walled cylinder 2 and the metal netting 11. Also, when sending a solution to be treated in the direction of the arrow mark b into the inlet pipe 3 inserted into the partition walled cylinder 2, ultraviolet rays are irradiated on the solution to cause a photochemical reaction to take place. |
